The Way We Live: Designing Cities of Tomorrow, Part 1: Who Gets a Say?

Who gets a say in how a city changes? Recorded live at The Box, Plymouth, on 25 September 2026, this is the first half of a panel on how cities can be designed with the people who live in them, not just for them.

Prof. Katharine Willis of the University of Plymouth leads a conversation with:

  • Sarah Jones-Morris, Director, Landsmith Associates

  • Simeon Shtebunaev, Social Life

  • Daniel Slade, Head of Practice & Research, Royal Town Planning Institute

  • Hannah Sloggett, Co-Director, Nudge Community Builders, Plymouth

Each panellist opens with how they work and what they think the cities of tomorrow need. The questions then turn to why so few people take part in planning decisions, what it means to design with communities rather than for them, how local people can lead change in their own neighbourhoods, and who gets overlooked.
